About me

Hello there, and thank you for looking at my details.

I take great pride in being able to talk to patients about what is troubling them, and what we can do to solve the problems. I like to think I'm friendly, open, and I will work hard to get the best outcomes for you.
I've been working in this area of the country for over 20 years, the last 11 years as a consultant. I've worked and led the Department at Castle Hill before leaving to take up the challenge of working in and leading the growing cardiology department on the South bank.
I get referrals from all across the East Riding,Hull, North Lincs and beyond - I'm happy to see anyone I can help. I get referrals for complex patients from other colleagues.

My areas of interest:
My main work is in chest pains and suspected heart disease. I am an interventional cardiologist and spend a lot of time doing the full range of coronary stent work of all complexities. I've lectured internationally and have travelled widely undertaking complex stent work in many countries and am proud to be able to demonstrate safe outcomes in even the most complex cases.

My Doctoral thesis was in heart failure - and still take great interest in diagnosing and managing suspected heart failure - often a very challenging process needing a long term relationship to build with patients.

My sub-speciality interest is high blood pressure and the use of non-pharmacological treatments (trying to lower blood pressure without tablets - using a form of surgical technique) I was one of the first doctors in the UK to adopt this technology, and built in Hull the largest service in the UK. I travelled the world teaching the technique (called renal denervation) and am presently aiming to build the service again once the NHS reviews its funding position.
I take enormous pride in taking referrals from across the entire north of England for complex high blood pressure patients - and follow the example of my mentor Professor John Cleland in believing that the best care comes from good research and that the people of this region deserve the best care.

Outside of work I have a growing family and live locally. I grew up in Hull and am a Yorkshireman to my core.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you.
