About me

Mr Kapoor is an experienced and internationally renowned spinal surgeon with over 34 years of medical experience, over 19 years of which he has spent as a qualified consultant in the North West. During his training, Mr Kapoor received a combination of multidisciplinary and sub-specialist training from leading neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons across the UK (from the south coast to the north west) in order to develop the best possible expertise and techniques. He now regularly trains other surgeons in the latest techniques the world over, from Europe to the Americas and Asia. He is regarded in medical circles as a "surgeon's surgeon" meaning other medical professionals often come to him for treatment of their spinal conditions, such is the level of trust they have in his surgical ability.

He is very experienced in dealing with all array of spinal conditions; ranging from those relating to the neck and upper back to those in the lower back and coccyx/sacrococcygeal area and regarded as one the preeminent experts in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery which allows for a much faster recovery time for patients together with less post-operative pain, allowing them to return to normal activities quicker than traditional open surgery would allow.

His NHS practice is based at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, where he is the most senior spinal surgeon and clinical lead. His academic commitments to the MCh clinical training programme allow him to stay abreast of all the latest surgical advancements for complex spinal conditions.

An appointment with Mr Kapoor is designed to give you the best chance of getting your life back on track and recovering from any spinal issues you may be facing. Although he is an expert in all the latest surgical techniques, most of the cases he sees can actually be helped without surgery. Once he has seen you he will work with the specialist physiotherapist teams, chiropractors, pain consultants and other colleagues to formulate the best treatment plan going forward.
