About me

For the past 13 years I have worked as a consultant cardiologist, and more recently as lead clinician and divisional director, in Worcester. I have a sub-speciality interest in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Since my appointment in Worcester I have lead the team setting up a new PCI service in Worcester which treated it’s first patients in 2008 and now treats >1000 patients per year with a full range of elective and emergency conditions, up to and including cardiogenic shock. A full range of adjunctive diagnostic and therapeutic technologies are available. The service has been integrated with the cardiologists in Herefordshire, providing timely treatment across the Network. A 24/7 primary PCI was has been running for 2 years.

I am trained in all aspects of general cardiology, including angina, acute coronary syndromes (heart attacks), arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, rapid access chest pain services, specialist lipid services, and heart failure, working with heart failure services both in hospital and the community. I am fully trained in a variety of cardiology procedures including angiography, angioplasty (PCI), echocardiography (BSE accredited trans-thoracic echocardiographer and extensive experience in trans-oesophageal echocardiography), nuclear cardiology, and pacing (simple and complex). I also have experience of cardiac transplant, adult congenital heart disease and electrophysiology. I have also introduced a Grown-Up Congenital Heart (GUCH) out-reach clinic in Worcester, working closely with the GUCH specialists from Birmingham.
