About me
I am an Orthopaedic Consultant with general orthopaedic experience and a specialist interest in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. I am currently on the Council of the esteemed Royal College of Surgeons of England. I trained in the UK ( Guys & St. Thomas's rotation ) with Fellowship training in Canada and Australia. I perform Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery, Primary and Revision Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Knee Arthroscopy and ACL reconstructions. I am trained in Robotic Surgery and was the first woman in Europe to perform Mako robotic hip surgery.
In the private sector, I have Paediatric privileges for treating children over 13 years of age.
I am the only female at my hospitals specialising in Lower Limb Arthroplasty, to some a desirable option.
My goal is to provide 'individualised, evidence based, expert and holistic care' to my patients and thankfully receive great patient feedback scores.
Apart from my clinical work, I have a keen interest in teaching and am an Examiner for Imperial College Medical School final examinations and am an external examiner for the University of the West Indies (Trinidad) medical school. I am an Educational and Clinical Supervisor at Ealing Hospital, ex Associate Editor for the Journal of Medical Case Reports. I am the Secretary for the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance, founder member and ex- Trustee of the British Association of Black Surgeons, Trustee for the British Caribbean Doctors and Dentists Association, an ex Committee member of the British Hip Society and a mentor for women and those from BAME background aspiring a career in Medicine. For my community work among other things, I received a Black British Business Award in 2016 and am listed as one of the 100 most influential Black Britons.
