About me
Andrew Gibbons qualified in Dentistry from Guy’s Hospital, London, in 1983. After hospital appointments in the National Health Service he passed his final fellowship examination in dental surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1988 and was awarded the Dean’s Medal for the most outstanding candidate in that year. He attended St John’s College at Cambridge University for medical training and in 1995 qualified with a distinction in his surgical final examinations. He was awarded his Master of Arts from Cambridge in 1997 and passed his fellowship examination in surgery in general at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. From 1998 to 2002 he undertook his higher speciality training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, UK. In October 2002 he was appointed as a Fellow at the Craniofacial Unit in Birmingham from where he passed his intercollegiate exit FRCS examination in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in May 2003.
He has been a consultant at Peterborough City Hospital for the past 19 years and specializes in trauma, orthognathic ( jaw) surgery and oral surgery. He is department governance lead and published over 80 papers and articles. He was a Training Program Director for OMFS, and lectures nationally and internationally on trauma, orthognathic Surgery and oral surgery. He has received 5 NHS clinical excellence awards.
