About me
Dr Usman Ameer Khan is a consultant general, colorectal and laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeon and accredited endoscopist based in Manchester. He has over 41 years of medical experience and over 30 years of specialist experience in general surgery.
Dr Khan is a highly experienced endoscopist and is one of the most experienced Laparoscopic Surgeons (Key Hole) in the United Kingdom. He started doing keyhole gall bladder surgery in 1993 and Keyhole hernia surgery in April 1995. He has performed thousands of hernias and gallbladder surgeries, making him a trusted choice for patients and referrals. He has a specialist interest in gastrointestinal oncology, colorectal surgery, endoscopic procedures and laparoscopic procedures. He typically sees patients with the following conditions:

Dr Khan received his MBBS from the University of Punjab in 1984. He trained in the North West Thames rotation and also worked at the World Famous St Mark's Hospital for Colorectal Disorders. He got his CCST in 1999 and was included in the GMC specialist register. Dr Khan is also a Fellow of the Intercollegiate Board of all four Royal Colleges.
Following his specialist training, he became the Clinical Lead for General Surgery and Colorectal Cancer at East Cheshire NHS Trust. Here he founded the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery. He is now Clinical Director for Planned Care Surgery and also the Clinical Director for Diagnostic services at East Cheshire NHS Trust
Dr Khan also has interest in researching keyhole surgery and colorectal cancer and has presented his work at many conferences both nationally and internationally. He regulrly publishes in different sciectific journals.
