About me

Update during Covid-19 lockdown I am offering remote sessions by skype and face time. Please contact me by phone to arrange this. I have over 20 years experience of working as a clinical psychologist specialising in helping children and their families. I offer assessment and therapy for a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties in children from birth to college age. I start therapy with an assessment which may or may not include the child depending on the child's age and parents concerns. We go through the child's background history and talk about parents concerns and goals for treatment. I can then help parents prepare their child for therapy. All the techniques I use are evidence based but as play is such an important part of development, I use humour and creative strategies to make the appointments child friendly and appropriate to the child's developmental stage. I liaise with other services when required and I also offer advice on referrals to other professionals when a child presents with difficulties which are outside of my experience. My most recent role in the NHS involved leading a team who help children deal with the psychological distress of living with physical health problems and this is my specialist interest. I really enjoy working with young people and their families and get a great deal of personal satisfaction from supporting families and seeing young people learning how to manage their difficulties so they can get on with their lives.
