About me

Mr Jehangir Mahaluxmivala (pronounced ma-ha-lux-mi-vala) or Mr Jeh Maha, is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospital , Harlow. He offers private knee and hip surgery at the Ramsay Rivers Hospital for patients from Hertfordshire, Essex and London.

He has 19 years of experience as a Consultant in providing a specialized range of orthopedic procedures for the knee and hip.

He provides expert advice and surgical care for all aspects of hip and knee surgery including sports injuries, knee arthroscopy, second opinions and prides in providing a personalised care to his patients.

As a former national level Badminton player he can empathize with former sports minded patients who might be in need of knee replacement or hip replacement surgery. He can council them on the expected outcomes and the risk benefit ratio of the expected outcome.

He is the lead for the MDT for Complex Knee and Revision Knee Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He successfully performs high volume knee replacement and hip replacement surgery annually. He is committed to delivering a high volume knee and hip service with nationally matched outcome measures with patient safety and patient satisfaction being paramount to his practice. He has access to some of the most modern clinical equipment available, meaning he is able to perform up to date procedures which are evidence based.


Mr Mahaluxmivala began his training on the Newcastle Rotation and completed his specialist training in London at the world renowned Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, Stanmore. He spent his final years specializing exclusively in knee, hip and lower limb procedures. He has completed a number of fellowships, including time in prestigious knee and hip replacement centres in North America.

Mr Mahaluxmivala has spoken at a number of national and international conferences. His work has been recognized and he has received a Clinical Excellence Award at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He has been an invited guest speaker at the combined British Orthopedic Association and Irish Orthopedic Association Annual Conference in techniques on how to perform knee replacements

Mr Mahaluxmivala is keenly involved in training surgeons to perform total knee replacement and total hip replacement and has been awarded Trainer of the Year from the Royal London Hospital Rotation. He competed with nominees from some of London's premier teaching institutes for this honour.

Mr Mahaluxmivala has a special interest in patient education and is a surgeon designer for animations for hip and knee replacement surgery. This was done especially to educate patients and help them in understanding their forthcoming surgery. This innovation was shortlisted for the NHS Innovation awards.

He is the co founder and co director of the Royal College of Surgeons of England FRCS( Orth) Course.

He is also an invited guest lecturer and faculty member at the Cambridge FRCS (Orth) Course and Harlow Knee Replacement Course and has previously been an invited guest lecturer and faculty member at the Tibia Master Class at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the University of Warwick FRCS (Orth) Course
