About me

Mr Jeremy D Bowyer BM (Southampton), FRCOphth

Mr Bowyer has a large general ophthalmic workload in the NHS and also consults privately, routinely managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, age related macular degeneration and regularly performs modern small incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery.

His particular areas of interest include plastic and aesthetic surgery around the eye, the management of watery eyes and orbital/socket problems. He has performed subspecialty fellowships at The Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland, Australia and Moorfield’s Eye Hospital, London. He is experienced in the surgical management of periocular skin cancer and has published widely on Ocular Adnexal disease.

He underwent ophthalmic training at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham and St. Paul’s Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon 11 years ago and was formerly a locum consultant at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge until he was appointed at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where he has worked since July 2005. He has lived in the local area since 1993.

He is a member of the British Medical Association, the Midlands Oculoplastic Surgery Society and a core member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society.
