About me
I am an experienced cognitive behavioural therapist accredited by the British Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Prior to setting up my own private practice, I worked for the Oxford Development Centre and was an associate therapist of the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC). I undertake assessments and provide therapeutic services for all types of psychological conditions. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and stress and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Before gaining accreditation as a cognitive-behavioural therapist, I worked as a social worker and subsequently as a senior manager for a Local Authority Social Services Department where I was responsible, as Head of Human Resources, for the planning and co-ordination of all training for social services staff and the running of the Personnel Department. I have provided workshops and given talks on a variety of topics, including child care and child protection, stress at work, overcoming depression, increasing self-esteem and anxiety management. These have taken place in national health service, social service, education and business settings.
I have over experience of working with adults, children, adolescents and families in one form or another. In addition to working with adults, I am experienced in child care and child protection, have been involved in marital and conciliation therapy and have provided support to parents experiencing problems in managing their children’s difficult behaviour.
