About me
I have been counselling for the past 25 years. I see clients from my home in Redbridge, Essex.
Over the years I have developed strong links with, and work closely with GPs , Psychiatrists, Hypnotherapists and other health care professionals. As well as with Employee Assistance Programs, seeing clients from large corporate companies such as banks, NHS, major airlines, schools, and various telecommunications companies to name a few. I also see clients on behalf of a number of private health care companies.
I work with a very diverse range of clients and am respectful of difference and diversity related to race, culture, sexuality, age, gender, faith and disability.
WHY ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT COUNSELLING NOW?
Life events happen and sometimes they can cause emotional and or psychological pain.
This can be in relation to your family, work situation, personal life and/or relationships.
Sometimes even though you my have talked to family and friends about this is has not been enough.
People often seek my help when they need to create a private time and space for themselves to talk to someone who is objective, neutral and someone who does not know them or people in their life. In doing so this helps them think and talk through what’s not working in their lives, or whats currently making them unhappy.
When this happens, my purpose is to help you identify the difficulties and help you to achieve your potential by identifying your inner resources and strengths, and work through these by helping you help yourself, and facilitate your journey to a better place.
My goal is to help you manage painful or difficult thoughts and feelings, and ultimately to facilitate you to live and happier more fulfilling life.
The first session is an assessment for all of us. We explore what has brought you, what the problems are and the context, and what you are hoping to get out of counselling. I then let you know how I think I can help and you decide if this is right for you.
If you feel that we have a rapport and you have feel confident, that is a good sign, but if you feel doubtful then there is no commitment to continue.
Having had an assessment (face to face) we agree whether our work will be on either on a short, medium or long term basis. The time scale we work to really depends on the presenting issues and how long I assess we will need to get you to a place where you feel happy and content.
The approach I adopt will be based on the present problems and which I feel will be most effective to you and your concerns.
MY COUNSELLING APPROACH
You will benefit from a range of counselling orientations that I have been trained in, which include Solution Focused, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Psychodynamic, and Humanistic approaches.
