About me
My core profession is nursing and I have successfully completed both General and Mental Health Nurse Training. in addition I have Diplomas in Community Mental Health Nursing (University of East London) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Goldsmiths University of London)
I have over 40 years experience of working in mental health in a variety of inpatient and community settings.
I have worked extensively in the NHS and over the last 20 years have established a successful full-time private practice.
I have a particular interest in complex trauma, and women's mental health and combine CBT with third wave approaches, specifically Acceptance & Committment Therapy (ACT)
I have been an active volunteer for my membership organisation , BABCP , serving on committees and acting as associate editor for the membership magazine CBT Today . I have had numerous articles published in the magaziine and write a regular blog on my own website www.patricia-murphy.uk
I provide c regular cllinical supervision for other CBT Therapists
I have recorded an episode of the LIstening Project with the BBC Radio 4 which explores what makes for a good patient / therapist relationship.
