OFFERING ONLINE THERAPY

Joanna Brook is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist with 33 years of professional practise, including 26 years as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. She completed her training at the prestigious Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital in London, qualifying in 1992 before the program transitioned to a Doctorate. Until 2023, she served as Head Psychologist for a specialist team within the NHS, where she played a key role in developing new services and held national advisory positions. In addition to her core qualifications, she has pursued further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Joanna understands the challenges that individuals face when seeking psychological support and recognises the importance of building a trusting therapeutic relationship from the outset. She is known for her optimistic, compassionate, and client-centred approach, and she is firmly committed to facilitating meaningful change. Her practice is grounded in theory and the latest evidence-based approaches, always adhering to NICE guidelines.

A cornerstone of Joanna's therapeutic philosophy is the creation of a safe, authentic, and supportive environment. She places great emphasis on unconditional kindness, empathy, and positive regard, fostering a space where clients feel heard and valued. She holds a strong belief in every individual's capacity for positive change and personal growth, no matter how complex their difficulties may be. Joanna recognises the importance of identifying each client's unique strengths and abilities, ensuring therapy is not only a place for addressing challenges but also for acknowledging positive experiences, resilience, and even humour!.

Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and tailored to the individual, ensuring that clients gain maximum benefit from the process. Through comprehensive assessment and evidence-based interventions, she works with clients to understand and address the underlying factors contributing to their difficulties.

In addition to her clinical work, Joanna collaborates closely with Occupational Health and Welfare Departments across the UK, providing expert psychological support and consultation.
