About me

I have worked in the field of Clinical Psychology for over thirty years offering mainly individual therapy for a wide variety of mental and emotional health conditions including Depression, Anxiety disorders, Mood disorders, Stress related disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD), Phobias and Emotional and behavioural disorders.

I have a special interest in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, also known as ME) and Personality disorders, in which I completed my doctorate in 2002. I also see patients with life adjustment issues, for example, those experiencing bereavement, post-natal depression or relationship problems.
As an experienced Psychotherapist, I have been trained in the use of a range of techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Supportive Psychotherapy, Solution Focussed Therapy Psychodynamic Therapy and Counselling Psychology.
My aim is to formulate my clients’ psychological problem and work with them to select an appropriate therapy programme. I will liaise with other Healthcare Professionals where necessary, for example, with dieticians in the case of eating disorders; with psychiatrists in the case of conditions requiring medication such as bipolar disorder, psychosis and schizophrenia; or with rheumatologists or other specialist consultants in the case of clients requiring rehabilitation treatments and pain and symptom management.
