I have worked in the dual roles of clinician and researcher in mental health trusts in the NHS and at Leeds, Aberdeen and Bournemouth Universities for 45 years. I have run a private practice for 30 years.

Research interests

I have specialised in the research and therapy of anxiety, stress and fear, treating many sufferers with panic attacks, phobias or post traumatic stress disorder. In recent years I have concentrated on the stresses of having medical conditions, such as multiple sclerosis and cancer, and have developed Emotional Processing Therapy to help people overcome the traumatic side-effects of medical treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy
