About me
It's not you or at least maybe not in the way you've been led to believe.
So many people come to counselling believing they're the problem. They've spent years trying harder, keeping the peace, second-guessing themselves, putting everyone else's needs first or carrying responsibilities that were never theirs to carry. Somewhere along the way they started to believe that if they could just be better, calmer, quieter or stronger everything else would fall into place.
Often the people who come to therapy aren't the people who caused the hurt. They're the people who adapted to it.
If any of that sounds familiar, I want you to know something: you don't have to carry it on your own anymore.
I'm Chantelle.
Before becoming a counsellor, I served in the Royal Air Force an experience that taught me a great deal about resilience, identity, belonging and adapting to change. It also means I understand the unique culture of military life and the challenges faced by serving personnel, veterans and their families.
Today, alongside my private practice, I work within the NHS supporting children, young people and families through some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Every day I'm reminded that behaviour always has a story behind it and that healing begins when someone finally feels heard rather than blamed.
Counselling to me shouldn't feel clinical or intimidating. It should feel like sitting with someone who genuinely wants to understand your story - not to judge it or tell you how you should live your life.
I don't believe people are broken, I believe our experiences shape the way we think, feel and relate to others. The ways we've learned to cope often make sense when we understand where they came from. Sometimes those coping strategies protect us but sometimes they can hold us back.
I don't think therapy is about fixing people. I think it's about helping people understand themselves with compassion. When you understand why you think, feel or react the way you do, change becomes possible.
I'll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, help you notice patterns you may never have seen before and, when it feels helpful, gently challenge the beliefs that have kept you feeling stuck. Therapy is a collaborative process and we'll work together at a pace that feels right for you.
Whether this is your first experience of counselling or you've had therapy before you don't need to have the right words or a plan. You don't need to convince me your struggles are real or bad enough. You don't even need to know where to begin. Just come as you are, whatever has brought you here, you deserve to be heard and you don't have to face it alone.
I believe everyone deserves someone in their corner, someone who listens without judgement, helps them make sense of their experiences and reminds them that they matter.
