About me

Do you find yourself being hard on yourself? Do you feel pressure to get things right? Does this leave you feeling low or doubting yourself?

I'm Sinead, a chartered clinical psychologist. I qualified 13 years ago and have worked in NHS adult mental health services since then. I am currently clinical lead for a psychology service across community mental health teams.

During my career I've worked with many people struggling with a range of different issues. One thing that has really stood out to me is just how harsh we can all be with ourselves - especially when we are struggling the most - often pushing ourselves down instead of offering ourselves the support we actually need.

This led me to specialise in a therapy model called Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). CAT allows us to explore how our experiences have impacted on us; unhelpful patterns of coping; and our relationship styles with both ourselves and other people. We can think about what support you might need from yourself to navigate whatever is going on in your life right now.

As a clinical psychologist I have also had training in other models and approaches including CBT, compassion focused therapy, mindfulness, and systemic approaches (thinking about the impact families or wider cultural groups and organisations have on us). We can think about whether any of these approaches might also be helpful for you.

I am a full member of the following professional bodies:
HCPC - practitioner psychologist
British Psychological Society - chartered clinical psychologist
Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy - Accredited CAT practitioner
Association of Clinical Psychologists

I offer face to face therapy on Thursday evenings.
