About me
I offer help for adults trying to deal with feelings of anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship and communication problems, stress at work, difficulties of work/life balance, etc. My aim is to go beyond offering techniques to 'cope' with difficulties and to offer a deeper appreciation of the psychological processes that can underlie our distress.
During sessions I take notes of our conversation. At the start of the next session, I ask you to read my notes to check the details are correct and to remind you of what we have spoken about. I do not keep any other notes, so you see everything that is written down. If it is helpful to write to your GP etc you will be given a copy.
I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for 40 years. I have worked in traditional settings such as hospitals, GP surgeries and mental health centres. I have also undertaken health education projects, worked within several companies (eg I ran an employee assistance programme for one company, now De La Rue, for over 20 years), a University Health Centre, with a Police Force for 14 years, and with a number of self-help groups. I also have some experience working for a surrogacy agency and in witness support.
For many years I have acted as an Expert Witness for people injured in RTAs, other accidents and who have been victims of serious crimes.
Two of my daughters are qualified clinical and neuropsychologists.
