About me
I am Shwetha Shivprasad, an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with over 13 years of post-qualification experience working with children, young people and adults across clinical, community and educational settings in the UK, Germany and India.
I believe that the foundation of good therapy is a relationship where you feel genuinely heard, respected and safe, and I put real care into creating that from the very first session. My approach is collaborative and person-centred. I work with you to make sense of what you're experiencing, understand how it developed, and find ways forward that are grounded in your own values, strengths and circumstances.
My practice is firmly rooted in evidence based psychological therapies and techniques like CBT, ACT, SFBT, Mindfulness based approaches and Systemic thinking. I don't apply a fixed formula, I adapt to you.
I have worked across a wide range of settings, including community mental health, hospital psychiatry, oncology and palliative care, private practice, and international educational environments. This breadth has given me real confidence in working with complexity, including presentations where mental and physical health intertwine, where trauma sits underneath other difficulties, or where life circumstances make things particularly hard.
I speak English, Kannada and Hindi, and I am experienced in working sensitively with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Outside of clinical work, I find balance through travelling, cooking and baking.
