About me
Dr Francis is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in adult mental health and chronic pain. He specialises in the assessment and treatment of trauma;
PTSD; complex PTSD; anxiety, depression; panic disorder; OCD; attachment and interpersonal
difficulties; medically unexplained symptoms and complex pain syndromes. He also provides Autism
and ADHD diagnostic services privately.
He has gone on to complete further training in psychotherapy including Intensive Short-Term
Psychodynamic Therapy (ISTDP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Areas of interest
Dr Francis has an expertise in a form of short-term psychotherapy called Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP is a unique and evidence-based therapy designed to get to the heart of your problems, and resolve things at the root. ISTDP considers the cause of your suffering as the over-reliance on psychological defences, developed over time, to avoid painful or feared emotions. Whilst these defences may have helped you cope with difficult circumstances in the past, your reliance on them in the present is likely coming at a heavy price, including medical/physical health symptoms, feeling anxious and depressed, as well as having problems with intimacy and closeness.
