About me

Stepping into psychological therapy is the beginning of a rewarding journey towards a happier, more contented life. I have over 15 years of experience of working with client overcome a wide range of psychological difficulties and common mental health problems. It is important that we work together to understand your particular difficulties and goals so that we achieve what is important to you. Early in my career a supervisor once wrote of me that I have a 'genuine and straightforward therapeutic style' and these words have remained with me. Real, lasting change comes from forming a trusting, warm therapeutic space where we can explore where your difficulties originated, what keeps them going, and how what needs to be different.

I trained as a psychological therapist at the University of Exeter, where I later completed my Doctorate in Clinical Research. I specialise in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders including OCD, Health Anxiety, Phobias and Social Anxiety, and those affected by traumatic experiences and grief. A focus of my clinical research and private practice over recent years has been the experiences of trauma in emergency responders. I aim to consider the whole person, and as such I have completed training and conducted research regarding neurodiversity and long-term health conditions.

I also offer Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy (PGDT) which is a structured, highly effective grief treatment quite distinct from counselling and not widely available outside the US. Loss and trauma can take many forms, and grieving is not something we 'finish,' but rather learn through time, respect and love to live alongside.
