About me

Dr Milica Mavra is a Consultant Neurologist now practising at BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guilford and at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital (Surrey). Having qualified in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, her postgraduate training resulted in MSc and PhD in Multiple Sclerosis with research performed in Sweden. Dr Mavra was a Clinical and Research Fellow for five years at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London with Professors I. McDonald and E. J. Thompson. She worked as an Associate Professor of Neurology at the School of Medicine in Belgrade and was Head of Neurology and Associate Professor of Neurology at Kuwait Faculty of Medicine. Since 1999, Dr Mavra has been working in the UK as a Consultant Neurologist, and for ten years held a full-time post at Southend University Hospital and the Royal London Hospital, until February 2012. Dr Mavra was awarded two Clinical Excellence Awards, and a Special Staff Achievement Award for developing the Rapid Access Epilepsy Clinic at Southend University Hospital. She has carried out extensive research, and has 77 publications and seven published audits. She now works as an independent practitioner and is a recognized medico-legal expert. In 2016, she attended the Medico-Legal Expert Witness Course and received a Certificate of Advanced Training.
