Mr Taher Abdelrahman

Consultant Knee Surgeon

MBChB, MRCS, MSc, FRCS (Tr&Orth)

Mr Taher Abdelrahman is a Consultant Knee Surgeon specialising exclusively in sports knee injuries, advanced joint preservation, osteotomy surgery, partial and total knee arthroplasty, serving patients across the East Midlands, including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire. His private practice is based at the Derby Private Health.

Known for a warm, reassuring, and personable approach, he treats each patient with genuine care and respect. By combining up-to-date medical evidence, he creates a recovery plan tailored to the patients' personal goals and lifestyle. He ensures that patients are fully involved, educating them on all options so they can make empowered decisions. He is committed to supporting his patients through every step of their treatment journey, working closely with postoperative physiotherapy to ensure a smooth and successful rehabilitation.

Mr Abdelrahman's higher surgical training and specialist career have been rooted in top-tier institutions across the UK and North America. He completed his higher specialist training within the Northwest London Deanery, one of the UK's most prestigious surgical deaneries, rotating through nine major teaching hospitals, including St Mary's Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

He then completed the Fowler Kennedy Knee Sports Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario, followed by elite fellowship training at the University of Calgary and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Together, these high-volume international fellowships provided master-level expertise across the full spectrum of knee sports injuries, joint preservation, and knee arthroplasty. Mr Abdelrahman was appointed as an NHS Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2021 and now serves patients across the East Midlands at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
