Research interests

My research focuses on musculoskeletal podiatry and lower limb biomechanics, particularly first ray function and sagittal plane pathology. I have undertaken postgraduate research on first tarsometatarsal joint compensation in cases of limited first MTPJ motion. I remain active in academic development, presenting nationally and contributing to evidence-based practice, with interests in integrating MSK ultrasound imaging into clinical research.

Personal interests

I have a strong interest in education, mentorship, and professional development within healthcare. I regularly support clinicians and students in developing clinical skills and value multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient care. I am committed to continuous learning and keeping up to date with advances in musculoskeletal medicine and imaging.

Awards received

I have been selected for several competitive leadership roles, including a Health Education England Bridging Scheme preparing clinicians for doctoral research. I am Chair of the MSK Specialty Advisory Group for the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine and a Clinical MSK/Biomechanics Lead within the NHS, where I support service development, clinical governance, and multidisciplinary care pathways.

Publications

I have contributed to professional and public-facing podiatry literature, including publication in Podiatry Now and clinical commentary to support patient understanding. I am the author of a systematic review on first tarsometatarsal joint compensation, submitted for peer review. I have also presented at national conferences on biomechanics, sagittal plane dysfunction, and evidence-based MSK management.

Courses offered to GPs

I deliver CPD teaching to healthcare professionals on musculoskeletal podiatry, including lower limb biomechanics, heel pain management, and foot and ankle pathology. I also provide training in clinical reasoning and the use of imaging in practice, supported by my PGCert in MSK Ultrasound Imaging, with a focus on improving patient outcomes.
