About me

Dr Anantharaman Ramasamy is a Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist at Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew's Hospital, one of Europe's leading cardiac centres, and at Homerton University Hospital. He provides expert, patient-centred care across all aspects of adult cardiology, with a particular focus on coronary artery disease and advanced coronary intervention.

Dual accredited in Cardiology and General Internal Medicine, Dr Ramasamy combines specialist expertise with a comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care. He is committed to delivering personalised treatment, clear communication, and the highest standards of evidence-based medicine.

After graduating with distinction from the University of Edinburgh, he completed postgraduate training in Oxford and London, specialist cardiology training at Barts Heart Centre, and advanced fellowship training in complex coronary intervention and cardiogenic shock at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Dr Ramasamy holds a PhD from Queen Mary University of London, awarded with no corrections, for research into advanced coronary imaging and plaque characterisation. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, leading research in coronary imaging, computational modelling, and AI-enabled cardiovascular assessment.

His work has received national and international recognition, including the Royal Society of Medicine Prize, finalist positions in National Young Investigator Awards, nomination as a Top Trainer in Cardiology by the British Cardiovascular Society, and the Best Clinical Case Award at EuroPCR, Europe's leading interventional cardiology congress.

Dr Ramasamy is a highly experienced interventional cardiologist with specialist expertise in coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), including the treatment of complex coronary artery disease. He has a particular interest in physiological assessment and intravascular imaging-guided PCI, using advanced techniques to optimise lesion assessment, procedural precision, and stent outcomes. His practice encompasses coronary angiography, balloon angioplasty, coronary stenting, coronary physiology, and intravascular imaging.

Alongside his interventional expertise, Dr Ramasamy provides comprehensive cardiovascular assessment using state-of-the-art non-invasive diagnostic technologies, including ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and myocardial perfusion imaging. This enables him to deliver accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment planning, and seamless care across the full patient journey.
