About me
I was appointed a consultant surgeon in the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport in 2003. I have been in private practise since 2004, through St Joseph's hospital, Newport.
My broad surgical training has allowed me to deal with all aspects of emergency and elective general surgery, with a specialist interest in Bowel related benign and cancer surgery. I completed all my surgical postgraduate training in England & Wales.
I have a special interest in all aspects of bowel cancer and am the Lead Clinician to our Multidisciplinary team. I undertake full range of investigations and treatments including telescope examinations(Colonoscopy) and Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. I benchmark my practise nationally through annual audit (NBOCA).
I am keen on education and research. I participate regularly in local and national meetings, keeping up to date with the guidelines and modern practices. My peer reviewed published papers are available on Google. I am honorary clinical teacher and a recognised trainer in Surgery, with Cardiff Medical school. I also train postgraduate trainees in basic surgical and advanced laparoscopic surgery courses.
I provide specialist treatment for haemorrhoids (Piles) including HALO procedure.
I also maintain a keen interest in General surgery including hernia surgery and Lumps.
I treat cases of Crohns disease and Ulcerative colitis and participate in Local Multidisciplinary meeting.
I am clinical lead for Hospital infection control at the Royal Gwent hospital.
Above all, I look to provide QUALITY assured SAFE care.
