About me
After qualifying in 1988, Ram Mohan completed his postgraduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery in India in 1990. In the UK, he undertook his Higher Surgical Training in Glasgow Royal Infirmary and other hospitals in the West of Scotland Orthopaedic training program. He completed a year of Fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive and Lower limb Arthroplasty from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, and a further Fellowship in Trauma and Pelvic Reconstruction with Professor Ganz from Berne, Switzerland.
Appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2002 at North Manchester General Hospital with clinical practice mainly focused on the treatment of all aspects of Hip and Knee Arthritis including Primary and Revision Arthroplasty and Arthroscopic Surgery.
He specialises in surgery for young patients with hip arthritis, undertaking both Cemented and Uncemented Total Hip replacements including ceramic on ceramic and Metal on Crosslinked Polyethylene bearings. He also specialises in complex reconstructions including revision hip and knee Arthroplasty surgery and custom-made hip replacements and MRI based personalised total knee replacements. He also specialises in joint preserving surgery for hip arthritis and minimally invasive total hip replacements. He is trained in undertaking MAKO and NAVIO Robotic Hip and Knee Replacements
His research interests mainly center on the assessment of clinical outcomes following hip and Knee Replacement Surgery.
He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Hip Society (BHS), and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS, international affiliate member)
