About me

I graduated in 1987. I completed my specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine at Mersey Deanery, Liverpool. I had the honour to work with Professor Sir Ian Gilmore , President Royal College of Physicians , London and two Presidents of British Society of Gastroenterology Professors Martin Lombard and Tony Morris as a Registrar. I was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at North Cumbria University Hospitals in 2001. Aside from developing the Gastroenterology service, I am also very committed to Training and Education. I successfully completed a Diploma in Clinical Education in 2010. I also act as an examiner for postgraduate examinations on behalf of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. I am involved with research, and has acted as principal investigator/co-investigator for a number of multicentre clinical trials. I was team member responsible for winning Hospital Doctor National Award in Acute Care Category in 2007.

I relocated as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Bedford Hospital in April 2014. I am clinical lead for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service. I am also involved with endoscopy training. I am both educational and clinical supervisor to various grades of medical trainees. I was appointed as Deputy Director for Research and Development\ in Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2023.I carry out both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
