About me
I am a highly skilled Consultant Clinical Psychologist trained at a doctoral level to deliver a safe, reliable and effective psychological therapy. I have experience in the NHS using talking therapy and can offer you a space to reflect on what troubles you and find a way forward. I have worked in a range of Mental Health settings and with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, OCD, relationship difficulties, burnout, abuse, trauma, personality related difficulties, and a variety of health conditions. I also have extensive experience of working with more unusual experiences such as hearing voices and paranoia.
I work predominately from a CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) perspective in a manner which is authentic, engaged and evidence based. However, I tend to integrate this approach with other therapy models such as compassion focused, EMDR, psychodynamic and systemic approaches, according to your difficulties and goals. I am keen on maintaining a flexible approach, where we collaborate and tailor the pace of our work to your needs and circumstances. Psychological therapy can help you achieve a better understanding of yourself and explore why, even when things seem to be in the right place, you might feel unsatisfied or disconnected. I will work with you to help you develop an understanding of your thinking and behavioural patterns and support you in adopting more helpful coping styles. Together we can find alternative ways to deal with your difficulties and pursue emotional wellbeing.
We will use the first session to discuss your current difficulties and your expectations for therapy. It will be an opportunity to assess whether we can work well together and whether my approach suits your needs for therapy. If you are not happy or sure, there is no obligation to take treatment forward any further.
As an Associate Professor at University College London and the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme, I supervise and assess the competencies of doctoral trainees. Prior to completing my clinical training I worked in research and completed a PhD at Kings College London. I have an extensive record of scientific publications and regularly present at national and international conferences. I have been an examiner for several UK programmes, as well as undergraduate, Masters and PhD students.
I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and I am registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS) and accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Areas of interest
Trained to work across the lifespan, with most of my clinical experience focused on adults and teenagers. My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, sexual health, psychosis, and carer and family work.
I also have a strong interest in the interface between mental and physical health, with extensive experience supporting individuals managing mental health difficulties in the context of physical health conditions. I understand the complex and often bidirectional relationship between physical illness and emotional wellbeing, and I aim to provide compassionate, integrated care that recognises the whole person.
I am committed to offering thoughtful, evidence-based support tailored to each individual's needs, whether working one-to-one or alongside families and support networks.
