About me

I am a Consultant Nephrologist and Acute Physician with over 15 years experience managing complex kidney disease within the NHS and internationally earlier in my career. I specialise in chronic kidney disease, glomerular disorders, resistant hypertension and acute kidney injury, as well as dialysis care and kidney transplantation.

Kidney disease is often lifelong and requires careful, consistent management, which is why I believe strongly in building long-term partnerships with my patients. I am passionate about supporting individuals through every stage of their condition from early diagnosis to dialysis and transplantation combining specialist renal expertise with a holistic, patient-centred approach focused on sustainable outcomes, clarity and quality of life.

Throughout my consultant career, I have cared for thousands of patients with long-term kidney disease and sudden kidney problems. I regularly investigate the causes of kidney damage, including performing and interpreting kidney biopsies, and I manage complex treatments that control inflammation and immune-related kidney conditions.

I support patients who need dialysis and guide them through decisions about starting treatment, as well as planning for kidney transplantation when appropriate. I work both in specialist kidney clinics and in hospital settings managing acutely unwell patients, which gives me a broad and practical understanding of kidney health at every stage from early diagnosis through to advanced kidney failure.

In addition to my clinical practice, I hold senior leadership roles at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where I serve as Associate Clinical Director and Service Director for Renal Medicine. I am responsible for helping to shape and improve kidney services, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality of care and access to specialist treatment. This includes overseeing service development, supporting medical teams and improving care pathways for patients with complex conditions.

I also hold an academic appointment as Professor of Internal Medicine and contribute to postgraduate medical education and research in kidney disease, supporting the next generation of doctors and advancing clinical practice.
