About me
Mr Alasdair MacInnes is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery, including partial knee replacements and complex revision joint replacements.
He graduated in 2010 and completed specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the East of Scotland, before being awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Orth). He then undertook advanced fellowship training in pelvic and acetabular trauma at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Major Trauma Centre in Glasgow, followed by an international fellowship in revision arthroplasty in New Zealand. He returned to Tayside to take up a consultant post in 2022.
Mr MacInnes has particular expertise in managing complex or failed joint replacements and is frequently asked to provide specialist opinion or assist colleagues with challenging cases. He chairs the regional arthroplasty meeting, where complex cases are reviewed, and has previously led the Bone and Joint Infection multidisciplinary team, focusing on infected joint replacements.
He is committed to maintaining high standards of surgical quality and transparency, contributing data to the Scottish Arthroplasty Project and local audit programmes to monitor outcomes and continuously improve patient care.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr MacInnes is actively involved in medical education and has received recognition for excellence in training. Patients value his clear communication, thoughtful approach, and focus on restoring mobility, reducing pain, and helping individuals return confidently to everyday activities
