About me

ABOUT ME

I'm a BACP and UKCP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor offering a warm, thoughtful space to think about what's troubling you.

People often come to me at a point where something has shifted, such as a diagnosis, a loss, a transition, or simply a sense that the way they've been coping isn't working any more.

My aim is to meet you where you are, without judgement, and to work alongside you at a pace that feels right.

I believe therapy works best when the relationship feels genuine.

While I bring training and experience to our sessions, I also bring myself, aiming to be curious, attentive, and committed to understanding your particular world rather than fitting you into a model.

HOW I WORK

My approach is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic and relational ways of working.

In practice, this means we'll pay attention to what's happening in your life now, to the patterns and earlier experiences that may be shaping it, and to the relationship we build between us which can itself be a place where change happens.

Some clients want to focus on a specific difficulty; others want to explore more broadly. Both are welcome.

I offer short-term work where that fits, and longer-term therapy where deeper exploration is needed.

WHAT I CAN HELP WITH

I have particular experience in the following areas:

Cancer and breast cancer: supporting people through diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and the often-overlooked emotional aftermath, along with living with a stage 4 diagnosis.

Brain tumours: I have worked with The Brain Tumour Charity and understand the particular impact on patients, partners and families.

Midlife and menopause: the hormonal, identity and relational shifts that this stage of life can bring.

Chronic pain and back pain: working with the emotional weight of living in a body that hurts.

Chronic fatigue and ME: including the grief, frustration and reshaping of identity that long-term illness involves.

Autoimmune conditions: the uncertainty, flare-ups, and impact on work and relationships.

Childlessness, infertility and fertility treatment: including IVF, egg donation, and the complex feelings around being childless, whether by circumstance or choice.

Grief and bereavement: of loved ones along with the losses that aren't always recognised: of health, of the life you imagined, of a future that won't now happen.

Anxiety and depression

Boarding school experience: including the patterns sometimes described as boarding school syndrome: difficulties with intimacy, self-reliance, and trusting others with vulnerability.

If any of this resonates, I'd be happy to hear from you.

I offer a free 20-minute online call to explore whether working together feels right.
