About me

Mr Surya Gandham is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions in both adults and children. He provides expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of spinal disorders including back pain, sciatica, slipped discs, spinal stenosis, and scoliosis. Mr Gandham holds consultant posts at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Children's Hospital, where he manages complex spinal conditions including spinal deformity, degenerative disease, trauma, and metastatic disease of the spine.

Mr Gandham completed advanced fellowship training in adult and paediatric spinal surgery at leading UK centres including Sheffield, Alder Hey Children's Hospital and The Walton Centre. His clinical practice combines the latest evidence-based spinal surgery techniques with a strong focus on minimally invasive spine surgery, allowing many patients to benefit from smaller incisions, reduced muscle damage, quicker recovery and shorter hospital stays where appropriate. He also offers a full range of non-surgical treatments, including specialist spinal injections and image-guided pain management procedures.

In private practice, Mr Gandham is committed to providing timely specialist assessment, clear explanations and personalised treatment plans for patients experiencing spinal pain or spinal deformity. His aim is always to explore non-operative treatments first, reserving surgery for patients who will genuinely benefit from it. When surgery is required, he offers modern techniques including minimally invasive spinal decompression, disc surgery, and complex deformity correction such as scoliosis surgery.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Gandham has a strong interest in spinal research, education and training. He has held national roles within the British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS) and the British Scoliosis Society (BSS) and has received several awards and fellowships recognising his contributions to spinal surgery education and research.
