About me
Dr Madhotra is a leading consultant gastroenterologist effectively serving patients from MK, three counties and abroad for more than 24 years at Saxon clinic and Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH). Dr Madhotra has been heading the gastroenterology and the endoscopy department at MKUH for over 20 years. He was actively involved in the creation of a State-of-Art endoscopy unit at MKUH. He is the Lead clinician for the Endoscopy department at MKUH and Saxon clinic for many years.
He completed UK specialist gastroenterology training programme (CCT) at Liverpool. He then went on to do a year of Advanced GI Fellowship at world famous Digestive Disease Center at The Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, USA.
His career has also seen Dr Madhotra travel to Japan as a Visiting Fellow at the renowned endoscopy units at the prestigious National Cancer Centre of Tokyo and Fukuoka University Hospital. Here he undertook extensive training in advance colonoscopy, polypectomy and EMR procedures.
The additional clinical and advanced endoscopic skills acquired internationally have allowed him to develop a clinical practice providing high standards of care to his patients.
Dr Madhotra has vast experience of advanced therapeutic endoscopy techniques, including ERCPs, Colonoscopies, polypectomy and early polyp cancer removal, EMRs, Oesophageal and colorectal dilatation and stenting. He takes an extremely considered and patient-focused approach to his work, making sure that they feel reassured and relaxed. He maintains high standards of clinical care for the benefit of his patients.
Dr Madhotra is an Accredited Bowel Screening Colonoscopist and Clinical Director for Buckinghamshire Bowel Screening Programme.
He has received awards from international professional societies and the regional health authority for his work on improving patient access for early diagnosis. His innovative work on improving patient access for suspected cancer was also quoted in a parliamentary debate at Westminster.
Previously, he has been clinical director and Divisional director for Medicine at MKUH. He served as Oxford Regional speciality adviser for the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and Regional adviser for the Royal College of Physicians, London, for 6 years. He has served as a member of the Clinical Standards and Service Committee at BSG. He is currently serving as a member of the Advisory Committee for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
Dr Madhotra is a keen learner and keeps his skills updated. He is an accredited educator and has trained numerous medical students and trainee doctors. He is a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Buckingham Medical School. He has trained and developed a number of very good medical and nurse endoscopists who are providing good clinical service as part of his team. He has upskilled and mentored numerous young consultant gastroenterologists in his department.
Dr Madhotra is keenly involved in clinical research, audits and quality improvement projects over his long career. He has published and presented his clinical research at the national and international forums regularly.
Dr Madhotra has been consulting at Saxon clinic twice a week for insured and self-pay patients for over 20 years. He also has a busy practice at MKUH.
Outside of his professional committments Dr Madhotra has a keen interest in sports and plays Cricket, Badminton and the Table tennis.
He has travelled widely to learn about various cultures and their influences on the health of people.
