About me
I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2022, specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty (joint replacement) and complex musculoskeletal trauma, at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Spire Liverpool Hospital.
I specialise in general trauma and orthopaedic surgery, with a particular interest in joint replacements of the hip and the knee (Arthroplasty), ranging from simple first-time joint replacement to redo surgery (revision arthroplasty) particularly for infection or trauma.
My career in healthcare started in 2003, gaining a 2:1 with Honours in Physiotherapy from Keele University and admission to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. After graduation, I worked at the South Cheshire Private Hospital, Crewe as a Senior Physiotherapist. During this time, I developed my love of Orthopaedics and was awarded a place at Manchester University Medical School. I graduated with a Batchelor of Medicine, Batchelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2008.
My early medical training was completed in Stoke on Trent, University Hospitals of North Midlands, completing my Foundation and Core Surgical Training in the West Midlands Deanery (Oswestry and Stoke Rotation). My higher surgical training was completed as a Specialist Registrar, working in the Cheshire and Merseyside. I was appointed as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Tr & Ortho) in 2019 before completing my higher surgical training in 2021.
I undertook the prestigious Cavendish Hip Fellowship in Sheffield in 2021 before being appointed as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group in August 2022.
In my NHS practice, I am one of two leaders for the Cheshire and Merseyside Revision Arthroplasty network, which involves representing our region at national level to maintain the quality of services we provide to our patients nationwide.
I have found a way to combine my love of motorsport with work. As an event Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Oulton Park and Doctor at Silverstone Race Circuits, I manage to utilise my complex trauma skills and experience whilst also enjoying high octane motorsport action.
