About me

Dr Leonie Wong qualified from University of Cambridge Medical School having completed a prior BSc Honours degree in pharmacology at University College London. He undertook training in general paediatrics in Nottingham and London before securing membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health.

He continued his general paediatric registrar training in the Oxford Deanery, before pursuing specialist paediatric cardiology training in Bristol and London where he developed an interest in paediatric electrophysiology and inherited cardiac conditions.

He was awarded the British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship to undertake research into the genetics of sudden unexplained infant death at St George's University of London prior to being appointed as a consultant paediatric cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital in 2017.

Areas of interest

Dr Wong has a specialist clinical interest in paediatric electrophysiology, inherited arrhythmia syndromes and sudden death syndromes (SIDS and SADS).

Dr Wong jointly runs the Paediatric Electrophysiology and Inherited Arrhythmia Service at Royal Brompton Hospital.

He manages all aspects of childhood arrhythmias, ranging from diagnosis and medical management to ablation therapy. He also looks after families with inherited arrhythmia syndromes (long QT Syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia and Brugada Syndrome) and sudden death syndromes (sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)).

He was previously the education and training lead for paediatric cardiology at Royal Brompton Hospital and the deputy clinical director for the Royal Brompton Hospital Congenital Heart Disease Network.
