About me
Mr Ian W. Kennedy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement, including complex revision surgery. He practices at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital.
Mr Kennedy graduated with first-class honours in Biomedical Science and a final year distinction in Medicine, and completed an MD researching stem-cell therapies to repair bone. An Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, he has published extensively and serves as Specialty Editor of the Bone & Joint Journal.
Mr Kennedy has undertaken advanced Fellowship training in Vancouver, an internationally recognised centre for complex joint replacement where he was trained by the President of the Hip Society, and the Endo-Klinik, Hamburg. This specialist training allows him to offer the latest techniques, including robot-assisted and complex reconstructive procedures.
He is Educational Chair of the Bone and Joint Infection Society and has received awards from the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip Society, The Charnley Trust and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr Kennedy is passionate about clear communication and personalised care. He takes time to understand each patient's goals, and focuses on helping people regain confidence and return to the activities they enjoy.
