About me

Dr Nikhil Sharma is a Consultant Stroke Physician with over a decade of experience at consultant level, and more than 20 years working within the NHS.

He has held senior clinical leadership roles, including Clinical Director at University Hospitals Liverpool and Clinical Lead for the Cheshire & Mersey Stroke Network, where he has helped shape stroke services at a regional level including leading the development of the world class North Mersey Stroke Service.

Throughout his career, Dr Sharma has been at the forefront of acute stroke care, managing some of the most complex cases and contributing to the development of high-performing stroke systems.

Alongside his clinical work, he has played a key role in education and training, supporting the next generation of clinicians and contributing to national stroke education initiatives.

However, it is through years of seeing the life-changing impact of stroke on patients and families that his focus has increasingly shifted upstream�from treatment to prevention.

Dr Sharma now combines his deep clinical expertise with a modern, evidence-based approach to prevention, helping individuals understand and actively reduce their risk of stroke, dementia and other devastating diseases, grounded in research that shows up to 90% of strokes and heart attacks and 45% of dementia are preventable with the right knowledge, measurement, and personalised action.
