About me

Mr Ashley Simpson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in adult and paediatric peripheral nerve and brachial plexus injuries, as well as complex upper limb conditions. He has a particular interest in the assessment and management of nerve injuries following trauma, surgery, and compression, and works at a national tertiary referral centre for peripheral nerve surgery.

He qualified in medicine in the UK and undertook specialist orthopaedic training before completing advanced fellowship training in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, he has a strong academic and educational background, with postgraduate qualifications in neuroscience, trauma science, medical education, and clinical data science. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and regularly teaches on national and international surgical courses.

Mr Simpson is known for his careful, methodical approach to diagnosis and for taking time to understand how symptoms affect each patient's daily life, work, and wellbeing. He places strong emphasis on clear communication, shared decision-making, and evidence-based care, ensuring that patients fully understand their condition and the available treatment options.

In private practice, he provides expert assessment of nerve-related pain, weakness, sensory disturbance, and upper limb dysfunction, offering both non-operative and surgical management where appropriate, and working closely with physiotherapists, pain specialists, and other clinicians to deliver coordinated care.
