About me

Mr Samir Ali Salih is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who focuses entirely on treating hip and knee arthritis. He works as an NHS consultant at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Mexborough Elective Orthopaedic Centre, and also sees private patients at Spire Methley Park Hospital, and Livingcare Sheffield.

He graduated with honours from the University of Oxford in 2012 and completed his specialist orthopaedic training in South Yorkshire, receiving his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2024. Throughout his training, he gained broad experience in orthopaedic surgery before choosing to specialise exclusively in hip and knee replacement surgery.

Mr Samir Ali Salih has a strong interest in enhanced recovery and day-case joint replacement, helping patients recover more quickly, manage pain better and get back to their normal routines sooner. He uses well-established implants and modern surgical techniques that are backed by strong evidence and long-term results.

After completing his training, he undertook advanced fellowship training in revision joint replacement, complex hip and knee surgery, and robotic-assisted joint replacement using the Stryker MAKO system. Robotic joint replacements offer increased accuracy positioning implants for a more personalised joint replacement.

Known for his calm and thoughtful approach, Mr Samir Ali Salih places great importance on involving patients in decisions about their care. He takes the time to explain diagnoses clearly, discuss all treatment options, and help patients choose the timing that best fits their lifestyle.

He is dedicated to providing high-quality, personalised care, with the aim of reducing pain, improving mobility and helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them.
