About me

Dr Lucy Hicks is an experienced Gastroenterologist, appointed as a Consultant at St Mary's Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in 2018.
Her clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, reflux and dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, gut health and nutrition. She is experienced in endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy and surveillance endoscopy.
Since 2022 she has been Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at the Trust, and played a key role in service organisation, quality improvement and the delivery of safe, high quality patient care. She has contributed extensively to departmental leadership, pathway development and multidisciplinary working.
Dr Hicks has a strong interest in medical education and has held several key training roles, including Clinical Training Lead at St Mary's Hospital. She is currently the Training Programme Director for Gastroenterology for North West London. She is a JAG accredited Endoscopy Trainer and regularly teaches on national training courses. She is a Fellow of the Higher Academy of Education, having been awarded Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Hicks has an ongoing active academic portfolio and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. She has ongoing research interests in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease and the gut microbiome including both commercial and investigator-led clinical trials.
Dr Hicks is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Society of Gastroenterology, the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation, and the American Gastroenterology Association.
