About me
Integrative Psychotherapist | Trauma Specialist | Coercive Control & Cult Recovery | Faith-Sensitive Therapy
I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience supporting adults, adolescents and families through psychological distress, trauma and significant life transitions.
My approach combines evidence-based psychotherapy with a deep understanding of how trauma affects the mind, body, emotions and sense of identity. I work collaboratively with each client to create a safe, compassionate therapeutic relationship where lasting change can occur.
Throughout my career I have worked with a broad range of presentations including anxiety disorders, depression, complex trauma, PTSD, childhood adversity, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, addiction, emotional regulation, abuse, sexual trauma and recovery following significant life events.
Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I have undertaken additional training across health, wellbeing and mind-body approaches, giving me a holistic understanding of emotional recovery and psychological resilience. While my work remains grounded in recognised psychotherapeutic principles, I also acknowledge the importance of meaning, purpose, values and spirituality where these form part of a client's own belief system.
One of my specialist interests is working with individuals recovering from coercive control, psychologically abusive relationships and high-control groups. I have developed extensive understanding of the complex trauma associated with cult involvement, spiritual abuse, narcissistic abuse and coercive dynamics. My work focuses on helping clients rebuild autonomy, identity, trust and emotional safety following these experiences.
I also have considerable experience supporting individuals recovering from addiction and recognise the important role that meaning, hope and, where appropriate, higher-power concepts can play within long-term recovery. Therapy is always tailored to each person's individual beliefs and values.
My clinical style is warm, compassionate and collaborative. I believe that healing occurs when people feel genuinely understood, psychologically safe and empowered to reconnect with their authentic selves.
My Clinical Philosophy
I believe psychotherapy is not simply about reducing symptoms but helping people restore a sense of safety, connection and personal agency. Every individual carries a unique story, and effective therapy respects both scientific understanding and the deeply personal search for meaning that often accompanies recovery from trauma.
My role is to provide a psychologically informed, compassionate space where clients can process difficult experiences, strengthen resilience and move towards lasting wellbeing.
