About me

Hello and a warm welcome. I'm Amanda Gemmel, an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly and start to make sense of what's been going on. Life can feel incredibly tough at times, and it's completely normal to need extra support. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported with kindness and compassion.

My approach is person-centred and solution-focused, which means we'll work together on what matters most to you. I'll help you explore what's happening, find new ways of understanding it, and support you in making the changes you'd like to see, drawing on your own strengths along the way.

Sessions are relaxed and collaborative, offering a space where you can be yourself without judgment or pressure. You set the pace and choose what we focus on, whether that's untangling difficult feelings or finding practical ways forward.

I use outcome measures at the beginning and end of our work to track progress, and most clients see clear improvements in wellbeing. Hearing clients describe feeling calmer, more confident, or more at ease is one of the best signs that therapy is working.

I hold Professional Accreditation with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. I'm anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and have extensive experience supporting adults with ADHD through a non-pathologising lens.
