About me

I am essentially a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist working with clients/patients with all sorts of psychological disorders and difficulties for over 22 years.

Overall, I like to make a difference when and where I can, in both my professional and my personal life.

I became an accredited psychotherapist with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) in 2008 and obtained a second accreditation with the BABCP (British Association for Behaviour and Cognitive Psychotherapies) the year after that. In 2019, I became a Senior accredited psychotherapist with the BACP, as well as a certified clinical anxiety treatment professional with the international Evergreen certification programme.

I offer therapy with many psychological issues, incorporating traumatic experience (PTSD), depression & anxiety, attachment difficulties & ACE, Relationship problems, Loss & bereavement, Anger management, and many other topics, including work with ASD. I also worked as a part-time school counsellor from 2003 to 2019 in five different high schools.

I am registered with the PSA (Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care), receive regular monthly supervision, trained to level three in safeguarding (for both adults and young people), and abide by the code of conduct of several counselling/psychotherapy organisations. I also have an up-to-date Full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and a full registration with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

Although my main approach is CBT and the readdressing of negative thinking, I would also consider my general approach to be more Integrative (adaptable) and somehow Eclectic (not overly standardised). I also used life coaching techniques when and where necessary to help with engagement when difficulties occur.
