About me
Dr McCarthy completed her radiology training in Oxford followed by a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. She is a specialist Musculoskeletal Radiologist with expertise in ultrasound, MRI, CT and image-guided interventional procedures. Her regular practice includes rheumatology, sports imaging, spine, trauma, bone infection, bone and soft tissue tumours and complex orthopaedic conditions. She regularly images elite sports players and leads the regional tumour, rheumatology and foot & ankle clinical-radiological meetings with Oxford's specialist clinicians. Dr McCarthy has been the supervisor for Oxford's musculoskeletal radiology training program for over 10 years and is the International Travelling Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists delivering MSK radiology teaching in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr McCarthy is an international speaker with over 100 invited lectures, has written over 50 peer reviewed publications and over 10 book chapters in the field of musculoskeletal radiology. She is a member of the South African, British, European and International Skeletal Societies and sits on the European subcommittees for musculoskeletal ultrasound and tumours.
