About me

Dr Simone Rofena is a highly experienced consultant in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and female and male infertility. He graduated from the school of medicine in Milan and specialised in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology at San Raffaele University Hospital in Milan, a world renowned scientific and research institute. He also worked in the Andrology and Gynaecology Reproductive Unit at San Paolo University Hospital in Milan, a national centre of excellence for male infertility, under the mentorship of Professor Giovanni Colpi, a pioneer in male infertility research and treatment.
Dr.Rofena has a particular interest and expertise on very complex fertility cases, most of which he manages to resolve successfully and he regularly receives referrals from clinics and colleagues from all over the world. Over the years he has increasingly become a sought after point of reference for those couples with repeated IVF failures and recurrent miscarriages.

Other important areas of his research are Reproductive Immunology, women with low ovarian reserve, poor responders to ovarian stimulation and patients with premature ovarian failure (POF), on whom he applies innovative protocols and the latest cutting edge techniques and advancements in the field. With over 25 years of experience, he is widely regarded as one of the best fertility specialists in Europe.

In 2013, Dr Rofena moved to London where he successfully held the position of Senior Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Medical Director at the Zita West Clinic, one of the most specialised and scientifically advanced fertility centres in the UK. The clinic was particularly renowned for having been the first holistic fertility clinic in the UK, understanding the importance of acupuncture, nutrition, hypnotherapy and counselling for a successful outcome and integrating these services with outstanding medical care. Thanks to this unique, innovative and visionary approach which has now become the model to follow for many other fertility centers, Dr Rofena has been able to achieve and to maintain outstanding live birth rates throughout many years.

From September 2025 Dr.Rofena has set up his own private fertility practice through which he is proud to offer to his patients his vast expertise and knowledge.

Dr Rofena is also a specialist in the field of Reproductive Immunology, which is successfully applied when necessary to the treatment of recurrent IVF failures and recurrent miscarriages (after natural conception or IVF), through individually tailored immune modulation programmes. He also has a special interest and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and fertility preservation (eggs and sperm freezing).

Dr Rofena has authored several publications in leading medical
journals and is often invited to present at national and international
conferences. He is an active member of the British Fertility Society (BFS), the
European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field and having helped hundreds od couples achieve their dream of parenthood between Italy and the UK, he has also been awarded the prestigious membership to the Italian Medical Society of Great Britain.
