About me

Mr Ahmed Abdelbar is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust in London, a leading healthcare provider in the UK. He provides his services across the Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology divisions. With 16 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, he developed a wealth of knowledge and surgical skills in Complex Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His specialties of interest are Complex Obstetric Surgery, Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery Keyhole surgery and the early detection and treatment of early stages of gynaecological cancers.

Ahmed performs open and minimally invasive Keyhole gynaecological surgeries. He treats women with benign conditions such as Endometriosis, Ovarian Cysts, Fibroids, heavy menstrual bleeding, PCOS, Pelvic pain, adenomyosis and endometriosis. At the maternity side, he leads on the Complex Obstetric Surgery service at St Thomas' Hospital. Before joining Guy's and St Thomas, he held a consultant position at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Abdelbar qualified and trained at Cairo University Hospital, Egypt, where he was appointed a senior lecturer and consultant. He obtained an MD degree in management of Placenta Accreta Spectrum from Cairo University. He achieved advanced training in Minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and Gynaecological oncology at Frimley Health and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS foundation trusts. He completed an advanced training in Gynaecological Oncology, Colposcopy, and Advanced Labour Ward Practice. He obtained the minimal invasive gynaecological surgery MIGS Diploma from the ESGE. He is a certified colposcopist and a member of the RCOG, BSCCP, BSGE, ESGO, and ESGE. He is keen on research and has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. His research domains of interest are Placenta Accreta Spectrum, Gynaecological Cancers and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. He also lectures and presents on the same topics in national and international conferences and meetings.

Known for his friendly demeanour, and his dedication to providing integrated care to his patients, Mr Abdelbar offers a fast diagnosis of benign and cancerous gynaecological conditions in addition to quick recovery time through performing key hole surgery.
