About me

Dr Simran Grewal is a Consultant Rheumatologist at The Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, a leading tertiary referral centre. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of rheumatological conditions, from common musculoskeletal complaints to complex autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Working in a busy tertiary centre, Dr Grewal has extensive experience assessing and managing patients with both straightforward and highly complex presentations. He provides clear, timely assessments for patients with joint pain, suspected inflammatory arthritis, and undiagnosed or difficult-to-treat rheumatological conditions. He offers prompt appointments, ensuring patients can be assessed and begin appropriate treatment without unnecessary delay.

Dr Grewal sees private patients at The Blackheath Hospital and The London Independent Hospital, offering convenient access to specialist care in a comfortable and professional setting.

Dr Grewal has particular expertise in inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and axial spondyloarthritis, and is the lead consultant for enteropathic arthritis across Barts Health. He is also actively involved in developing regional care pathways for axial spondyloarthritis.

He takes a patient-centred approach, focusing on early diagnosis, clear communication, and personalised treatment plans. He is experienced in the use of advanced therapies, including biologic medications, and supports patients in making informed decisions about their care.

Dr Grewal graduated in Medicine from Barts and The London School of Medicine with distinction, and holds an MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health with Distinction from University College London. He has a strong interest in sports and exercise-related musculoskeletal conditions and is trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and joint injections.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Grewal is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, where he teaches and supervises medical students and junior doctors. He has contributed to research in rheumatology, with publications in areas including psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis, and musculoskeletal imaging.

Dr Grewal is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu, allowing him to support a diverse patient population.
