About me

Mrs Diane De Caluwe, MD, FEBPS is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and Urologist in Chelsea Children's Hospital in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust since 2002.

She trained extensively in Belgium, Ireland and the UK for 12 years before accepting the offered post in Chelsea and Westminster in London.

She has 19 years experience as consultant in Paediatric Surgery and Urology and has treated patients from the UK and many from abroad. She manages all common causes of hydronephrosis such as vesico-ureteric reflux, (VUR), pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction (PUJ obstruction) and obstructed Megaureters ( VUJ obstruction) as well as ureteroceles and ectopic ureters.

She has a keen interest in the management of hypospadias and other penile abnormalities.

She has a vast experience successfully managing children with day and night time wetting problems.



She is the audit lead of the Department and has supervised many audit projects improving the day-to-day care in the hospital of children with paediatric surgical and urological problems.

She also developed a large paediatric urology outreach clinic in the West Middlesex University Hospital, now part of Chelsea and Westminster hospital.

She is one of the few Paediatric Urology Robotic surgeons in the country.

She was co-director of Prince Clinic in Hampton and current director of Safe Children's Surgery Ltd.

She is examiner in the European Board of Paediatric Surgery and elected member of the Examination Committee of the UEMS Section and Board of Paediatric Surgery.

She is a regular reviewer of manuscripts for The Journal of Paediatric Surgery and The European Journal of Paediatric Surgery.
