About me
Even prior to qualifying from the University of Glasgow in 2009, Dr Watson has always had a focus on women's health and a strongly held interest in the field of Gynaecology with her first presentation at a National conference in 2008. She completed her training in the West of Scotland Deanery, choosing to specialise in Major Gynaecology Surgery and Emergency Gynaecology care including Gynaecology Ultrasound training.
She holds a substantive Consultant Post in Glasgow, providing general Gynaecology care in clinics as well as operating regularly. She believes in individualised, patient focused care based on the latest evidence and always strives to offer the highest possible standard care - care that she would be pleased for her friends or family to receive.
She co-led the set up of the Same Day Gynaecology Pathway improving access for the women of Glasgow to high quality safe, minimally invasive major surgery and has a strong interest and keen understanding of the principles and practicalities of safe surgical care. She had more recently extended this knowledge and experience to address Gynaecology waiting lists and optimise Gynaecology surgical care across Glasgow.
Dr Watson operates regularly in a number of locations and has a broad surgical skill set, performs a range of procedures on a regular basis. These range from the insertion of contraceptive devices or biopsy under local anaesthetic in clinic, to hysteroscopic procedures such as ablation up to major surgery such as hysterectomy or treatment of ovarian cysts. Over recent years she has completed additional advanced training in the medical and surgical management of Endometriosis, including excision of Endometriosis and ureterolysis.
Her particular passion is minimally invasive surgical care with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for her patients and she has presented new techniques for achieving at national and international conferences. She is also a keen educator, supporting the next generation of surgeons as faculty for several practical surgical skills courses.

Minimally invasive or keyhole gynaecological surgery: laparoscopic surgery for ovarian cysts, female sterilisation, pelvic pain, Endometriosis, risk-reducing surgery, PMDD or PMS; Management of fibroids - medical and surgical including myosure resection of fibroids and open and laparoscopic myomectomy;Hysterectomy, open and laparoscopic;Pelvic pain;Endometriosis - medical and surgical care including excisional treatment and ureterolysis;PCOS; Female Hormonal care including Adolescent Gynaecology and Menopause:HRT; Insertion and removal of contraceptive devices - hormonal and copper; Investigation and Management of period issues - heavy, painful, irregular cycles;Hysteroscopy and Endometrial Ablation.
